Festival Event Schedule

After the dedication kyogen performance at Hachimangu Shrine, the floats of the Hikiyama start from Ichibanyama (first float) and proceed along Miyamachi-dori and Ote-dori streets to Otabisho (the “roadside”).

The procession is called “Dochu” (on the way).

The Hikiyama Kyogen is performed at four locations along the way, and by the time the final Hikiyama Kyogen is performed at the Otabisho, the sun has set and the floats are decorated with lanterns and lit on fire.

This is especially beautiful.

The floats are well steered and move gracefully through the narrow streets.
