Festival Event Schedule

April 9

Senkoban(Incense sticks)

image

Senkoban” refers to the time that the general tour guide makes his rounds to make sure that the performance time of the Hikiyama Kyogen is within the set time, and is so named because in the days when there were no clocks, time was measured with incense sticks (one incense stick lasts about 40 minutes).

In recent years, the mayor, the chairman of the general committee, the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the head of the Tourist Association pay their respects to all the groups in charge of the floats.

This is also the day on which the rehearsals, which have been held since around March 20, are open to the public.

Two to three rehearsals will be held in the daytime and in the evening. The open practice will continue until the 12th.
