Hadaka-mairi(Naked Prayer Pilgrimage)

image

To pray for good luck in the lottery and the health of the children actors, from around 8:30 p.m., young men in each yama-gumi (only the “active yama”) form a line led by a lot-taker in a red hachimaki, wearing a sarashi, kimata, and bare tabi, with a yama-gumi lantern in his or her hand, They then made their way to Hachimangu Shrine, Houkoku Shrine, and Shinmei Shrine.

The scene of the water-running at Mitarashi and the passing by of other mountain groups is worth seeing.
