Yuwatari(evening crossing)

image

A procession from Hachimangu Shrine back to the town of Yamagumi.

The procession is made in the following order: goheimochi, mask box-bearers, stagehands, and actors, who are protected by young men who light the way with lanterns on horseback.

The performers walk across the stage in the manner appropriate to their roles and in the same manner as they appear at the end of the kyogen performance.

The cuteness of the procession is outstanding.

The procession begins at Hachimangu Shrine, continues along Miyamachi Street, Otte Street, and ends at the Ichihachiya Seat Tsuji in Kobe-machi.

The evening procession begins at 7:00 p.m. with the last group of floats leading the red lanterns in a slow march to the music.

At this time, the floats are sent off and the banners are brought back to the town.
