What is a Wakaki-mono?

Wakakimonos (men) are between the ages of 17 and 45 who live in the town or are related to the residents.
They play a central role in the Hikiyama Festival, and are responsible for the naked procession, drumming, lot drawing, guarding the procession, and taking care of the actors and the three roles.
During the festival, they wear kimono during the festival period, and today they wear Haori Hakama with crests.
They also practice the SHAGIRI (transverse flute)with children throughout the year.
